Wakamow Valley Authority is pleased to announce that the chosen name for the park areas to the east and west of the newly constructed suspension bridge is Paashkwow Park.
Wakamow Valley Authority launched a public campaign at the end of November inviting Moose Jaw residents to put forward suggestions for a park name. Staff received a number of good and thought-provoking suggestions making it a difficult task to choose just one. The Board of Directors selected a name which they felt reflected historical use of the area by Métis people and the topography of the area. Paashkwow means meadow in Michif, the language of the Métis people of Canada. Read more about the history of Moose Jaw River Valley in the days when it was home to Métis hunters.
Wakamow Valley would like to thank all those who submitted suggestions.
